Holistic education incorporates physical, mental and emotional growth along with psychic and spiritual growth . If this is true, sports takes a very important position in a student's life. Physical education serves as a medium for man’s total education - intellectual, emotional, developmental and so on, using experiences centred in movement. And in today’s schools these experiences are focused largely on the natural movements of active play or recreational life.
Physical education cannot escape its responsibility to measure up to the needs of the day. It must choose its activities and methods not at random and not for traditional reasons but with a clear eye to where it is going, to the effect it has upon people.
Realizing this mantra, the sports activities are conducted in AEC Schools regularly. The focus is mainly on developing physical fitness of the students through regular yoga exercises in the morning assembly. The students are trained in athletics, badminton, basketball, football, cricket, table tennis, lawn tennis, volleyball, hockey and kho-kho. At the local level the sports meet is conducted annually in all the schools. At the national level Inter-AECS competitions are held annually to exhibit and bring out abilities and talents of the students. In addition to that, regular PETs select talented students and train them for participating at the inter school meets/tournaments at various levels. Many or our schools compete at District, State and National levels and emerge triumphant in many events.
To strengthen the physical education programme, AEES also provides various facilities - salubrious playgrounds and latest equipment to the schools as per their requirement. These facilities not only motivate the students to participate in various sports events but also improve their performance and inspire them to scale greater heights. |
